Child Ministry helps prepare children who are ready to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist for the first time, usually around the age of 7 or in second grade. Catholic school and public school children celebrate the sacraments together, Reconciliation in December and Eucharist in May. All students must have completed at least one full year of religious education either in a Catholic school setting or in Christian Formation and be currently enrolled in order to begin Sacramental preparation.
Older students (grades 2 and up) who have been baptized but have not had any prior religious education are encouraged to enroll in Christian Formation classes (or Catholic school). After one year, they too can begin sacramental preparations. Please contact the Child Ministry Office if you have a child of this age you would like to enroll for the first time.
A student of age 8 or older who has not been baptized generally prepares for the Sacraments through a process called RCIA for children.
